Glaze Tectonics - mossy green (9998C)

9998C - from the Glaze Tectonics series, made in UT 1998 ©
still available for purchase

This glaze finish reminds me of moss turned into stone. It flows in soft waves, and crackles as it cools. The sage color looks like it should smell like springtime. Running my fingers over it, it feels almost like a beachwashed stone, polished from years of tumbling against the shore.

Nice glaze! What is the recipe, cone, heating/cooling rate, etc.?

With my functional glazes I am always more than happy to share my recipes, but with these glazes, which are NOT food safe, I dont feel secure sharing them. The likelyhood of the glazes ending up being used improperly is too great. Sorry.

As for heating and cooling and firing cone etc... the kiln was fired to cone 7 over the span of three days, cooled for 4 days in a hardbrick lined muffle. Plenty of easier ways to get mossy green glazes. Good luck!
