Organ Pipe National Monument in Arizona

This is a saguaro cactus, probably upwards of 150 yrs old.

This is the view from Bull Pasture, 800 ft up from the valley floor.

These are the leaves of the Occotillo, a stick-like succulent.

Talk about an awesome February break! Aurora got a chance to head down to the Sonoran Dessert for her break from school last week. Came home on the red-eye, landed at 9am, played HOCKEY at noon... what an amazing way to end a great week.

Here are a few of her marvelous images from her trip. Annotations are Aurora's.

Oh Aurora! Your photos are wonderful and it sounds like you had a great time! I'd love to see more - I've never been out west or to the desert so I'm happy to soak up as many pictures as you want to share!

Your photos are awesome! I get a real sense of the expanse of earth
and sky, sort of like we get at the beach. Can't wait to see more of your
pictures and to hear the stories of your trip.

Aurora,

Your photos are amazing! It's wonderful that you had an opportunity to visit the desert. We know a little about the feeling of wide open space which you experienced and we're happy that you embraced all of it with such enthusiasm and spirit. Your photos are terrific & they call to us to make a return trip in the near future. Thanks!

Love,
