To Take Your Breath Away

Aurora shot this on her little Kodak easyshare camera yesterday morning. Talk about breath-taking!

Oh, Bean, I don't think I have any fabric that can begin to do justice to the color and configuration of this sky. We will just have to lose ourselves in your amazing photo and rejoice that you were up in time to experience this spectacular sunrise.
Love, Granny

Thank you Granny. I hope we CAN find some fabric that will do it justice. Here's how Dad and I created this image. I took two pictures with my camera and then we combined them in Photoshop. Then we changed the saturation and contrast so that it would have greater color and more pop.

Glad you liked it!

Your best bet if you want a fabric in these shades would be dying it yourself, I've managed to get a sort of pink/orange like the one in the picture from printer ink (magenta with a smidge of yellow) and the dark purple is very much like the acid dye jacquard make called purple. The colours in the picture certainly pose a fun challenge.

I think you're on the right track Maggie. Dying the fabric ourselves would definitely allow us to get richer colors and better blending etc. Cool idea to play with!
